History of Hillingdon Shopmobility

  • Hillingdon Shopmobility was formed in 1997 with a partnership between DASH (Disablement Association of Hillingdon), the Borough’s focal organisation for people with disabilities.

  • The first unit was a portacabin in the Pavilions Shopping Centre and doors opened on 26 July 1998.

  • On 6 March 2001 we moved to the Chimes Shopping Centre when it first opened.

  • Following funding cuts in 2023, and post Covid, Shopmobility closed for a brief period in the summer. We reopened on 3 July 2023, now run solely by volunteers.
  • We recently celebrated our 25th anniversary at The Chimes, one of only two of the original outlets still here.
